Celebrate Pride Month with us

Every June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community! It’s important to recognize the history of pride month, how it started, and why it is important in our society.

How did Pride Month start?

Pride Month all began on June 28, 1969 with the Stonewall Riots. Gay bars in Greenwich Village were often raided by the police. On June 28, 1969, the LGBTQ+ community began rioting for three days to show the police they were done with the harassment.

Following this year, pride parades were organized to commemorate the Stonewall Riots. It became tradition and June was officially declared as Pride Month.

What is the significance of Pride Month?

Pride Month not only serves as a reminder of the struggles and hardships the LGBTQ+ community has gone through, but also to celebrate the progress of freedom for the community. Pride Month is a time where everybody is celebrated for being who they are.

Everyone is encouraged to join the LGBTQ+ community and show their support as an ally! There are still many countries with anti-LGBT laws, we must show our support to create change in the world.

Mental health and the LGBTQ+ community

According to the Trevor Project’s inaugural national survey on LGBTQ youth mental health, the community faces lots of mental health struggles. 71% of LGBTQ youth has faced discrimination for either their sexual orientation or gender identity. Meanwhile, 2 out of 3 LGBTQ youth have experienced someone attempting to change who they are.

The statistics are highly alarming and we must amplify our support for the LGBTQ+ community to protect the next generation. The discrimination towards the LGBTQ+ community cannot be ignored or else hate crimes will continue to occur.

Please look forward to more resources on how to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community throughout the month.

In the meantime, check out our special Pride Collection! In honor of Pride Month, we’ve curated this collection with unisex products for everyone. ✨
